Clever Ways To Drink Your 2L a Day
9 January, 2020
Water, H2O, aqua; whatever you want to call it – it’s very important to drink every single day. But life gets in the way and it often gets to 12pm and we realise we haven’t drunk any water. Up to 60% of the adult body is water and just like a plant, we need water to survive. Call me crazy, but when we have our 2L a day, we have a clearer head, less brain fog, we have a little spring in our step and everything is right with the world. Well, we’re not crazy, it’s actually been scientifically proven. If you’re dehydrated, which a lot of us are without realising, it’s harder to function and you almost feel sloth like.
Water serves a number of essential functions to keep your body moving. It aides in digestion, helps form saliva, allows body’s cells to grow, flushes body waste and acts as a shock absorbing tool for your brain and spinal cord. So you can understand if you’re not getting the correct intake of water, you start to feel depleted. But how can we keep up with the standard 8 glasses a day when we’re living a busy life? We’ve got a few pointers to help you out.
Purchase A Good Water Bottle
In your journey to stay hydrated, purchase an insulated water bottle that holds a litre or more. Give yourself a goal throughout the day to fill it once or twice and keep it with you at all times. Pop a couple of ice cubes inside in the morning on your way to work so it stays cold and fresh.
Adding fruit to your water bottle gives it a refreshingly satisfying taste and will leave you wanting more and keeping your thirst at bay. Adding lemon to your H2O helps with digestion and overall gut health. It’s also tasty. You could add orange, kiwi fruit or mandarin for optimum taste. You don’t feel like you’re drinking boring old water because it’s tastes amazing and super refreshing. Have you ever tried cucumber in water? It is a game changer to say the least. It gives it such an impeccable taste that you cannot explain. It’s invigorating and exhilarating and will keep you sipping all day. We know it’s not fruit, but adding mint gives water an insatiable taste that lingers on your tastebuds.
Set a Timer
We know it sounds silly but we seriously set a timer for absolutely everything these days! Set yourself a timer to remind yourself to have a glass of water if you’ve forgotten for the last hour. And don’t turn it off without getting up and getting yourself a glass of water. You need to stay on track to stay hydrated.
Make A Slushy
A healthy one, obviously. Mix 2 glasses of water with 1 cup of ice and a few springs of mint, or a cup of fruit, and you’ve got yourself a deliciously refreshing slushy that will hydrate your body. Add cucumber to it if you’re making it with mint and you’ll never go back to drinking regular water again. These are simple yet manageable tips to drink your water each and every day. Now excuse us while we sip on our slushy.
