24 December, 2019

The holidays are a time of gift giving and spending money on everyone else. But at the end of the day, we still need a little bit of pampering ourselves. How can we continue our pamper lifestyle on a shoestring budget? Easy peasy lemon squeezy, and quite literally. We’ve got some epic DIY ideas that make the wallet happy and your skin glow. You won’t need to leave the house as you’ve probably already got majority of the ingredients in your cupboard for these DIY beauty treatments. Get the kids to help you, it’s that simple.

Coconut and Lime Face Scrub
All natural, and soothing for your face after a hard day at work, this face scrub is easy to make and gives you a fresh glow for a fraction of the price. What you’ll need:

1/3 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons desiccated coconut
1/2 cup raw sugar
3 tablespoons coconut oil
Mix all of the ingredients into a bowl until well blended. Pop mixture into a jar with a lid and keep in your bathroom. It really is that simple. Keep it close to your shower and exfoliate your skin while you shave your legs and wash your hair. Your skin will thank you.

Coconut and Coffee Scrub
Nearly everyone loves coffee and has some sort of coffee contraption in their house. This scrub is great because you can recycle the coffee grinds you’ve used for your morning espresso. The only thing that’s run through it is boiling water, so it’s safe to use on your skin. You’ll need:

1 cup ground up coffee
1/2 cup coconut oil
Vanilla essence (not necessary but makes it smell pretty)
Mix the ingredients together and place into a glass jar with a lid. Coffee is actually super nourishing for your skin and helps promote collagen growth. Giving you a fresh and earthy glow for the holiday period.

Green Tea, Sugar and Honey Scrub
Green tea is said to have anti-ageing effects when applied to the skin. It is said to reduce wrinkles and blemishes and helps reduce scar tissue. Yes please! You’ll need:

2 green tea bags

1 tablespoon of honey

3 tablespoons of raw sugar

Brew the green tea with both tea bags and let cool. Keep the tea bags to cool down and set aside. Do not throw them out Once cooled, pour about 1/2 cup of brewed green tea into a bowl. Pour 1 tablespoon of sugar into the tea at a time until it blends together. Pour your honey into the mix and stir until all mixed together. Put your face scrub into a jar and voila!
Use the cooled down tea bags to place over your eyes. You could even pop them into the freezer for a couple of minutes to cool them down more.

These face scrubs are super easy to create and if you don’t already have these ingredients in your home, they’re easily collected from Woolworths for little cost. Which one is your favourite?
