Mood Boosting Ingredients
21 February, 2020
This time of year can have us feeling sluggish and out of sorts. January felt like it’s gone for 67 days and being back to work and back to reality after a fun-filled holiday break is tough on our mind and spirit. Drinking coffee all day can leave you feeling dehydrated and more tired than without one. If you have a little knowledge of what to eat during the day, you can uplift your mood with epic food, without dehydrating yourself. We know how easy it is to have a sweet pick me up when feeling over stressed and tired. But it makes you feel worse in the long run and can enhance how tired you are.
Omega-3
Omega-3 oils play a role in your brain function and eating it throughout the day helps keep your productivity at its peak. It’s easy to maintain as omega-3 is in a bunch of delicious foods such as mackerel, salmon, walnuts, flax and chia seeds. It’s not too hard to get in a little dose of fatty acids in each day.
Probiotics
Another way to keep your brain switched on all day is eating probiotics. They enhance your mood and a great way to also get your gut better. Double whammy! You can find them in yoghurt, pickled vegetables, Korean kimchi and miso! It’s easy to find these mood boosting foods at places like Koomi , Pepper Lunch Express, Sushi World and Makoto Bento.
Antioxidants
This is a fun one, because it includes red wine. Just don’t drink it at your desk during the day. We suggest having 1 glass with lunch. Antioxidants are super good for you and are in a collection of super foods. Oh, now we understand why they’re called super foods; very smart. Foods include dark chocolate, red wine, blueberries, red cabbage, goji berries and pecans. Jump into Stone and Peel for an antioxidant rich smoothie bowl or head to Stretch Italian for a cheeky glass of red with lunch. Everyone wants to be able to fight off the 3pm blues so why not enjoy what you’re eating to do so?
