Must Haves Snacks To Enjoy Footy Finals

Whether you’re into the NRL or not, you can feel the footy fever levels getting higher and higher with the finals around the corner. Usually with a beer in one hand and a snack in the other, footy finals are here and we’ve got the best snack ideas for you. A tasty meat pie is simple go to for footy food but we can help you create incredible gourmet snacks for you and your mates to enjoy while cheering on your team.

Nachos
Such a crowd favourite while viewing the football, nachos are quick and easy to create in your household. Grab a pack of Doritos from Woolworths along with beef mince, cheese, a taco seasoning sachet and tinned tomatoes to construct your own homemade version. Add guacamole and sour cream to give it that restaurant feel.

Chicken Wings
Things could get a little messy but it’s seriously oh so delicious, you won’t mind sticky fingers. A little more intricate dish, you’ll need chicken wings, ½ cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 ½ teaspoon of salt and vegetable oil for frying.

  • Cut chicken wings in half at the joint
  • Combine flour, paprika and salt in a bowl
  • Coat wings in flour mixture, shaking off excess

Pop your wings into your heated vegetable oil to cook for about 10 minutes until brown and crispy. If you’re feeling a little adventurous while the wings are browning, why not create some epic buffalo sauce?

Melt 80g of butter in a saucepan over medium heat and then remove from heat. Whisk in some Franks Hot Sauce, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and ¼ teaspoon of salt.

Crispy Mozzarella Sticks
These are seriously divine with a touch of epic. You’ll be the talk of the town with this footy snack. You’ll need:

  •  Mozzarella sticks
  • Panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Freeze your mozzarella sticks for at least 2 hours. Fill up a pot with your oil and put it on to heat up. Roll your mozzarella sticks in flour, then coat with the beaten eggs and roll in panko bread crumbs to finish. Carefully place each stick in your oil and cook for around 7-8 minutes or until brown and crispy. You can also choose to do the egg and panko crumbs step a second time before adding to the oil for a seriously crispy bite. They’ll stretch and leave mouths wanting much more. These work just as well with your chicken wing buffalo sauce as well. Salivation at its finest.
