NYE party tricks that won’t break the bank

24 December, 2019

Party season is upon us and we are counting down the days where we get to let our hair down and party like it’s 1999. But as the budget is tight after a big Christmas of giving gifts, what can we do for New Years Eve that won’t cost a fortune? You can still party on a budget, it might just be a little bit different to past years.

Going Out?
If you’re hitting the town, an easy way to stay on budget is to make sure you draw cash out before you go out and leave your bank card at home. This way you’ll know exactly how much you have to spend and you won’t be tempted to spend more after a few margaritas. Try and organise a designated driver if you can so you don’t have to spend exuberant amounts on a taxi or uber as the rate is usually three to four times the usual amount for one trip. If you don’t have a designated driver, try and split the cost between 3-4 of you so the amount stays within your budget. Also, have a cheeky glass or 2 of Prosecco before you head out so you don’t need to spend as much on drinks. And the most important budget friendly tip for going out, eat a big meal before you head out so you don’t spend money on food as well as drinks.

House Party
This is super budget friendly. Grab some booze from BWS before you make the trek over for the night and even share a bottle or 2 with friends for your most cost effective night. It also gives you a bit of variety if there are a few of you. Drive over and either plan to stay over so you don’t need to uber home or if you can’t stay, uber home with friends to ride share and organise for a friend to help you pick up your car the next day. Just don’t drive too early in the morning if you’ve been drinking into the early hours of the morning. Cheap and cheerful.

Staying In?
The most cost effective way to spend your NYE is to stay in with friends and get everyone to bring around a bottle of their favourite spirits from BWS. The more friends invited, the more spirits, which means the more cocktails for you and your friends to enjoy. Get everyone to bring around a bowl with their most favourite snack so you don’t
go hungry. Whack the fireworks on TV and light sparklers for midnight and dance around to your favourite tunes while laughing and seeing in the new year with amazing friends, not having to worry about how much money you’ve spent.

We’re excited to see in 2020 with a bang! So, what are your plans for NYE?
