This Gluten-free Brownie Recipe is your Fudgey Fantasy

These gluten-free brownies are undeniably rich, gooey and cause for celebration. What’s more, they’re achievable for anyone – whether you’ve baked extensively or not at all. For a twist, consider adding your choice of nuts, berries, or spices (chilli works a treat).

Makes 16


200 g melted butter
200 g dark chocolate
¼ cup maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 cup almond meal
½ tsp baking powder
1 pinch sea salt


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a square bake tin and line with baking paper.
  2. In a large, microwaveable bowl melt the butter and chocolate in bouts of 30 seconds. Stir well. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in the maple syrup, vanilla extract and the eggs, one at a time, until incorporated.
  4. In a bowl, combine the almond meal, baking powder and sea salt.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture with a spatula until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and spread into an even layer.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 25-28 minutes or until just set.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Cut into squares to serve.
