We’re Obsessed with These Flavoured Popcorns You Can Make at Home
3 December, 2018
You can’t mess with buttered popcorn served in an old-fashioned cardboard carton. But you can play with seasonings to create the perfect at-home snack for you and any little ones in the vicinity. You don’t need a specialised popcorn maker to pop your kernels (though it can’t hurt!). For most, a stovetop will do the job just fine.
- Curried popcorn
In a few tablespoons of melted butter, stir in curry powder, salt and a little sugar. Immediately pour the mixture over the popcorn and shake to coat.
- Salt and vinegar
This is a classic combo you can master in minutes. Pop white vinegar and sea salt into a spray bottle and spray over cooked popcorn. As a variation, try it with white balsamic vinegar.
- Italian flair
In a pan, melt a few tablespoons of melted butter. Stir in grated parmesan and chopped rosemary. Immediately pour the flavoured butter over the popcorn.
- A touch of luxe
Feeling spesh? Toss a little truffle oil and finely grated parmesan into a batch of freshly popped kernels.
- Sriracha corn
In a bowl, whisk a few tablespoons of melted butter, Sriracha and lime (zest and juice). Pour over the popcorn and toss vigorously to coat.
- Just for kids
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, ground cinnamon and a little salt. Drizzle the popcorn with melted butter and mix to coat. Then sprinkle over the cinnamon mixture and toss well to combine.
- Wasabi blast
This one’s for the adults! In a small bowl, combine wasabi powder, ginger powder, soy sauce and sea salt. Melt a little coconut oil and pour it over the popcorn. Immediately sprinkle over the wasabi mixture and toss to coat.
